Hotels, Guest Houses and B&Bs
Girvan is reasonably well served by a range of accommodation types but over the years, short stay holiday accommodation has been harder to find – and some of it is booked year on year by people who attend the festival. Our best advice is to make an early decision to attend the festival and contact the organisers when you are booking or enquiring about tickets. We will do our best to help with advice and local knowledge.
Motorhomes and Camping
Over recent years people with Motorhomes and Caravans have used the public car park at the harbour where overnight parking is not restricted for vehicles such as campervans/caravans. In previous years, people with tents have headed to an area on the other side of the harbour but this year there is a better solution.
We have had permission from the Council, Community Council and the Harbourmaster to use a grassy area, close to the Harbour car park. Known locally as the ‘fishermans drying green’, it is adjacent to the harbourmasters office. There is also no charge for this facility as it is public ground but please note that permission to use this grassy area has only been granted for the duration of the Festival.
Adjacent to the car park and tented camping area are public toilets which have a 30p charge but are clean and well maintained. There is also a public swimming pool very close to the Motorhome / tenting area, The Quay Zone. Normal admission charges apply if you want to use the pool and its facilities – which includes showers. There is also a snack bar within the Quay Zone.
Please note that the festival has no control over the camping and motorhome area. It is a public facility. Although there is no charge for these facilities, we expect them to be used primarily by people attending the Festival. If you are attending the festival – and buying event tickets – we will do as much as we can to make your stay in Girvan a pleasant one.
